Week 5: No Sugar

The No Sugar habit was much easier than I expected, probably because sugar isn't really my thing unless it's right there in front of me, as it was once over the weekend. Another family celebration of something or another... But I had made a conscious decision that I was going to allow myself to have dessert at that function. Maybe because I knew I wasn't going to deny myself forever, or I was just too full from all the other carb-y food, but I had only small portions of the two sweets.
As for the other habits, I can barely remember what they are and not because they've become ingrained into my daily life. I literally can't remember much these days. I even forgot to put the sticky notes up to remind myself of them. :-(
All I know is the fruits & veggies between meals habit is non-existent. I need to figure out a workable strategy for that. I'm not giving up on it as it's an important habit to instill. I don't think I ate after dinner at all, though my dinner hour has creeped past the usual 6:30 pm finish time since I'm eating probably more than I should to ensure I'm without cravings for the rest of the evening. I'm pretty good about IF, with a minimum of 13-14 hours and usually 16 hours. Not that it's helped with weight loss. In fact, thanks to the family gathering and a lunch out with a friend, my weight is up since the new year, so this is clearly not working for weight loss.
But that's okay, but this year is about good habits and I intentionally did not choose those geared towards only weight loss. I want my good habits to naturally help me lose weight as I start making them a part of my daily life.
However, I do think I need a little help in sticking to these habits, so this week's focus (for which I'm already behind) will be a scheduled routine. Since I haven't been getting enough sleep - less than usual - I'll start with a nighttime routine that gets me into bed with the TV off and the phone put away by 11 pm at the latest.
What that routine looks like, I'm not sure yet so let me go figure that out. I'll let you know how it goes next week.
